I might go tonight. Fors, what are the odds it gets rainedout.

Skip and Craig are going to the DL.

The forecast calls for some really bad storms--tornado warnings and dangerous sized hail warnings. As you probably know, those storms tend to move through pretty fast. I wouldn't be surprised if the game has a delay, but I also wouldn't be surprised if they finish the game--albeit very late in the evening.

descalso made a very nice play at 2B the other night to save a single. greene and jay seemed determined to make a steady stream of mental lapses that will not endear them to the boss.

I am bailing on the game but I were going I would have liked to meet up. The forcast, last minute cancelations of the people we were supposed to be going with, gas cost, beer cost and getting home at 1am with a 4:30 am wake up time is going to leave 4 seats empty. I was reading the story on the new pricing and they are only $16 tickets so I dont feel bad. Plus the people who gave them to us are the cancelation and they got the tickets for free in some package. I like to go but it is alot of trouble on a rain day.

It's hot and muggy in St. Louis today; it's basically a summer day. That means we'll get a tremendous storm followed by even more mugginess.

Hamilton and Punto take their spots on the roster

I'm surprised they're bringing up Hamilton, who is left-handed and not a right fielder.

I guess they thought the power off the bench was more important. It is time to see if all the bitching about Skip is valid. Here comes two weeks of seeing if there is a better option.

The story I read said that they only had one other outfielder on the 40 man roster--Adron Chambers. I'm not sure how all this works, but in order to bring up Stavinoha, they would have had to add him to the 40 man roster and then (maybe) risk losing him when they sent him back down.
I bet we see Tyler Greene in the outfield at some point in the next 15 or so days.

Damn, Stavinoha is in a screwy position.

True, but if there was a demand for his services, any team could have had him in the Rule 5 draft. And I think he had to agree to a minor league deal with the Cardinals, meaning he was a free agent and could have signed elsewhere.
It sucks for him, but there are probably worse things in life than playing AAA baseball for a living.

Right now there's a 35 degree difference in temperatures between St. Louis and Kansas City. There's no way the game gets underway at 7:15.

I live in west St. Louis County. Storm just came thru, dropped pea sized hail for about 15 minutes and then left as quick as it came in. Right now it's actually brighter than it was at mid-day. I suspect they play, but doubt they start on time.

Weather delay! I am glad I didnt go now. I am just not into getting home from a ballgame in the AM.

I wouldn't be surprised if they don't try to play tonight. The tornado sirens have gone off a couple of times in the last hour. I think the only thing preventing an early stoppage is sales at the concession stands and the fact that the weather forecast for the next couple of days isn't much better.

Day-night doubleheader tomorrow.

I still have tickets but nobody to go with and a huge tree down in my backyard. I have never seen the wind blow that hard. We had the window on the southeast and northwest open in our house. Somehow wind was rushing in both before I shut them. Sounded like a busy interstate outside and another tree is down over the road on my street.

All it takes is for one of those trees to fall the wrong way and houses and lives are ruined, as evidenced in North Carolina. Glad to hear you have nothing worse than a big mess to clean up.

I am sure the tree falling is what woke me up. The neighbor has some roofing to replace. My garage had some damage but I am replacing that roof this summer anyway. I drove around some and there are alot of trees down. Oh well that is free wood. Of course last night while it was storming I was debating about going to the basement while looking out the window. It is stupid not going to the basement when you have one but I hated to wake the kids up and deal with them all night for a 15 minute storm.

A tree was at the center of my one and only almost exercise of political power.
We built a new home a little over 4 years ago. Until about 2 weeks ago, the lot next to us was empty, and there was an old tree that stood on the lot. I'm not sure what the official name of the tree is, but it was one of those trees that produces those really hard, spikey "gumballs" that you have to clean out of your yard before you can mow the grass and that clog the gutters. Besides the inconvenience of the tree, it was planted at a higher elevation than our property, so its roots nearest our house were exposed. Also, it was nearest our daughter's room, so when the wind came blasting through, I was always fearful that thing would fall onto the house and her room.
It was very clear that the tree would be removed whenever they started building the home next to us because it was smack in the center of what would eventually be the driveway, but despite a couple of requests, the builder refused to cut down the tree.
About 2 years ago, I was appointed as a member of our municipality's planning and zoning commission. One day, one of the agenda items related to our subdivision. Besides houses, our subdivision includes some multi-unit villas, and the builder wanted to change the subdivision plan from multi-unit to single unit villas. Personally, I didn't care and intended to approve the request, but prior to the meeting, I decided to revisit the issue of the tree. I met with the builder, explained my concerns again and was met with a "we'll see what we can do about it." The meeting was then called to order and I took my position at the commission table. You could see this look of horror come across the builder's face when he realized I was a member of the commission rather than a concerned citizen who happened to attend the meeting.
The commission listened to the proposal and scheduled the vote for the next meeting. We meet on the second and fourth Monday of each month. The very next Saturday, I was awakened by the sound of a chain saw. Sure enough, there was a guy cutting down the tree. It was down to a stump within a matter of hours.
I can honestly say that I never once suggested that the tree would impact my vote (and it wouldn't have, I would have approved his proposal regardless), but it was really funny how quickly that tree came down when that guy realized I had the ability to affect his situation. BTW, when they started building on that lot 2 weeks ago, one of the first things they did was even out the ground, including removing the stump of that tree. I knew it was going to be removed eventually.

I'm getting a Wizard of Oz vibe here. Can one of you guys arrange to drop a house on my mother-in-law?

Odd how that works, eh? I would have asked the guy to bring me coffee and donuts as well, but hey, if you've got these foolish principles you want to uphold ...
