4/21 Gamecrap

Lohse's surgery starting to look legit. Another good outing to this point.

Holliday with a bomb!

No lineup, I don't do lineups! Still a good effort going on early today!

Just another outburst from the NL's best offense.

Lohse's WHIP is down to 0.74.

Re: 4/21 Gamecrap

Any word on who makes Sunday's start?  It would have originally been Westbrook, but with the rain out Tuesday, Westbrook got bumped to Wednesday.  He'd have to pitch Sunday on 3 days rest.

Maybe Lohse can pitch on 2 days rest.

It's still Westbrook, according to Horton. The other alternative is to bring up someone from Memphis. I suppose they could make a trade for Lincecum, but that seems a little drastic, even for TTTIB.

I watched the last three innings. Outstanding.

The uniforms the Dodgers are wearing today are the worst. Ever. They look like a women's softball team.

Re: 4/21 Gamecrap

As close as the boss ever comes to ebullient:

"The line tells the story," manager Tony La Russa said. "No runs, two hits, a real good assortment of pitches, handled beautifully by Yadi. His command was real good. He never really got concerned the offense wasn't clicking. We couldn't add runs, it didn't bother him. We got a big number in the eighth, that didn't bother him either.
"We've seen Kyle like this. I think he's pleased he's going out there with weapons to compete. It gives him a fair chance. He's been going out with less than his best and taking his beating at times. I think he enjoys having a fair chance."

Lohse's recovery couldn't have come at a more opportune time for the boss.  And I'm glad Lohse can finally thumb his nose at all the people who have been saying "Lohse sucks" for the past two years.

"SUNDAY'S STARTER STILL UNDECIDED: No decision has been made yet on Sunday's starter. The final game of the Reds series would be Jake Westbrook's turn, but he'd be throwing on short rest after rain pushed his Tuesday start back to Wednesday. Complicating matters is a bad forecast for rain for Friday's series opener with the Reds, which could push the rotation back.
La Russa said consideration was being given to adding a lefty to the staff for the Reds series -- Trever Miller is the only one now -- but GM John Mozeliak said he had no moves planned at the moment."

I wonder if they call someone up from Memphis.  Are there any lefty starters down there?

Let's call this an anomaly.

you diss on on lohse the way you complain i diss on people like moz.  lohse pitched well in 2008.  did what he was supposed to do in 2009 until he was hit by a pitch and suffered a freak injury that either effectively ended his career or, hopefully, caused him to suck for a couple until he got better again.

barring permanent injury, or some new problem, lohse has the potential to be very helpful for the cards this year, and with all of the other problems we've been having, i don't really understand why all card fans are not really pulling for this guy to heal up and pitch well.

I've defended Lohse and acknowledged that his problems were related to a freak injury, but that doesn't mean I'm about to get my hopes up that he's fine now.
