MLB assigns trustee to oversee Dodgers.

Clearly this needed to be done. Anyone ever seen a picture of Jamie McCourt? Ouch... You would expect the owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers to get much better tail than this... She should only be bedded after a long sex drought and a massive amount of hard liquor.

The fact that Frank married such a woman is a clear indicator he has no idea what he's doing...

If there was ever a case of people who had "gone Hollywood" and didn't come back the same, the McCourts are it. Frank's repuation in Boston was about as pristine as anyone's could have been. All the guy ever wanted to do was own a piece of the Red Sox, and he would have built them a new ballpark that probably would have had at least the same economic impact on Boston that Camden Yards had on Baltimore.
There are a lot of reasons to despise Bud Selig, but rigging the process so he could give the team to his buddies Lucchino and Henry is probably his worst offense. This nonsense with the Dodgers is as much, if not more, Selig's fault than it is the McCourts'. And the Red Sox will continue to play in that dump of a ballpark until it falls around them.

Yeah, McCourt had to leverage himself to the tilt to get the Dodgers. He didn't have anywhere close to the capital needed to buy and run the team. This is all on Selig.

Shaughnessy weighs in:

I didn't know he sold the parking lots. He must have been desperate, because those things are a cash cow. There's no other way to get to Dodger Stadium other than by car and there's nowhere else to park.

"This is all on Selig."

The other owners are due some blame because they voted to let him buy the franchise. This is all about Lucchino. He couldn't afford a team on his own, so Selig paired him up with Henry and Werner and awarded them the bid for the Red Sox when it was lower than McCourt's. And even then they had to come up with a deal to get Henry out of Miami, so they practically gifted the Marlins to Loria after he had run the Expos literally out of Montreal.

I only had a vague understanding of that, so thank you. Has there been a more unsavory deal?

The Expos were wards of the league before and after they moved to Washington. In 2003, the Expos were on the periphery of the playoff race, and Selig wouldn't let them make any September callups. Remember, they had played all those "home" games in Puerto Rico that year.

GWB's ascention from a marginal stockholder to the ownership of the Rangers is suspect, but probably not. Taken in the worst possible light, Lucchino is the Zelig of major league baseball. He's never really accomplished anything on his own, he's always had the backing of rich and powerful friends, despite an abrasive and confrontational style.

"woody allen"

In the crowd at MSG tonight, watching the Knicks play like crap, even by NBA standards.
