Cards-Reds, home, weekend series, the guy who stole his MVP is in town: Is anyone else expecting Pujols to go a tear this weekend?

P-D:
"Former Cards third baseman Scott Rolen was not in the starting lineup for the Reds on Friday after he got two cortisone shots in his left shoulder on Thursday. (The left shoulder is the one he hurt while with the Cardinals.) Instead, another former Cardinal, Miguel Cairo, will start. Rolen didn't play Thursday and, though it's not official, it looks like he might miss the entire series.
Daniel Descalso gets the nod for the Cardinals at second base tonight in the ongoing rotation to fill in for the injured Skip Schumaker.
Manager Tony La Russa said Jake Westbrook would start Sunday's final game of the series, though that could change depending on what happens with Friday night's game. Storms are expected to hit St. Louis right around 7 p.m., though the hope is that they will move through the area quickly, rather than stay as they did on Tuesday."

Two things to keep your eye on.
1. Volquez has sucked in the first inning.
2. Weather could be a factor. There's a line of t-storms heading right for St. Louis.

Volquez's ERA is 29.25 in the first inning. Of the 17 runs he's allowed, 13 have been in the first.

Batista is starting. They said because of the weather. I dont think it is a bad idea. There is no way this game doesnt get delayed at some point. Plus this would help them out sunday by not having to start Westbrook.

Why was this game even started?

It's raining like a bitch here. I have to power, but fortunately the lightning lights up the house about every 30 seconds or so.

Big hit by Yadi. A 2-run lead ain't much against these guys.

i never dreamed i'd come home at 10 pm, my time, and the game was still on.
motte just hit 99.
(picked MiL up from airport. 90-120 minutes each way. :-(

It feels like the Cardinals ought to be ahead by about eight runs, but the Reds have hung in there.

he walked a guy and got yanked? i'm guessin' there was a rain delay after he pitched to one guy. good guess by tony not waste a real starter in that situation.

damn i like it when molina plays the role of gamechanger. that was fabulous. heads up by pujols to know that the easier out was the man forced off of second. i've never seen a K to pick-off play work quite like that.

1st pitch slider to Gomes. Brilliant!

i for one feel much better with the current roles in the bullpen, and franklin not in the mix for late innigs of important games.
go cards!

as Al said, the reds don't deserve to win after that.
now if the reds had been playing the cubs, the boys in blue jammies could have still figured out a way to lose. that's just one thing that makes it so much nicer to root for the cardinals.

La Russa managed this one beautifully. Tonight was truly a masterful performance, and I love seeing him one-up Dusty like this.
