Pujols is sitting out and the lineup is buh-leak:
Theriot
Jay
Holliday
Berkman
Rasmus
Molina
Punto
Descalso
Garcia
Freese's girlie ankles must be acting up again if he's missing his second straight game and getting three days off.

Assume Berkman at 1B, Jay in RF

I assume Jay is playing right and Berkman is playing first. I wondered how they were going to deal with Pujols not being in the lineup. I figure they would play Craig instead of Jay. I guess they are loading up on lefties against the great Bud Norris. Maybe Berkman has filled them in on how to hit the guy.

Craig is still on the DL

So Milo Hamton is saying that Berkman didnt treat Astro fans far because he is better shape this year then in years past. What an asshole. The guy had a hall of fame career and the first year he didnt produce they traded him. Berkman would have been happy to spend his whole career in Houston.

It said in the post that he isnt really happy to be going back. I think there are some hurt feeling there.

Bernie pretty much set him straight -- Berkman went to the Astros before he went to anyone else this past offseason to see if they would be interested in bringing him back. They said no. Berkman also didn't randomly decide to start working out; he was having knee problems last year.
And really, Berkman was an All-Star caliber hitter through 2009. He had one bad season. He didn't mope his way through Houston's garbage seasons and he didn't mail it in, either. I understand being miffed that suddenly he's hitting like he's 31 again, but that guy did a lot for the team and the city. Completely disrespectful on Hamilton's part.

Yeah it is a bullshit classless piece. I would be very offended if I were Berkman. And he might be hitting better because he isnt having to carry a linep full of want to be AAAA players. Fuck the Stros.

the fans have spoken otherwise.

that at bat by rasmus went steadily downhill. the swing and a miss for strike 3 looked particularly bad.

I know that's the catcher running, but nice hustle play by Punto to hold Quintero at first.

I got home from work in the top of the 4th. Did these doorknobs really just boo Lance Berkman?

No, they gave him a pretty good ovation.

The Astros run a "Keep it Green" promotion of some such terminology on their closest home game to Earth Day. I think the Cards were in Houston for it last year, too.

Hey, did we really just score runs off of Cy Norris or is that a typo on my TV screen?

Houston's defense comes in as crappy as advertised. Three gifts runs is too many against Jaime.

I thought I heard some boos in there his second AB. That would have been disgraceful.

Why in the world would anyone ever throw a fastball to Hunter Pence?
