I still say Franklin needs a trip to the DL. Any chance he cut himself shaving?

I guess with any luck we will see how thick of skin Boogs has. I think he will be fine. As a starter he took things well. TRL got on him pretty hard.

Dammit. Nice call having Greene playing behind the bag.
Thank god. Inning over.

Lohse threw 97 pitches. I have no idea what La Russa is thinking. Or if he is thinking.

I would like to see a study about shifts. I bet all the shifting around doest increase outs that much. I think a team would come out about the same if they always played straight up.

It doesn't help when you shift to pull and pitch the batter away.

Interesting. Sanchez gets the save opportunity tonight.

Here comes the fucking tying run to the plate.

Nobody has the Closer Mentality yet.

Stupid over-managing. Lohse would have ended this game with 115-pitch count a half-hour ago.

Goddamit why is Lance Berkman out there in the ninth inning?

Horton- "Kyle Lohse with 7 shutout innings. I'm guessing more than a couple Cardinal fans wish he would have been given the chance to pitch a couple more."

Tony's playing for extra innings.

That was stressful.

97 pitches to get the first 21 outs. 62 pitches and four guys to get the last six. Now you don't have Salas and Sanchez tomorrow. Because Tony wants Franklin to have some success before he goes back into the closer's role.

My root canal on Monday was less stressful.

Last night, I speculated what I would have asked La Russa if I had a pen and a notebook. Tonight, I would have beat him over the head with the notebook and jammed the pen into his neck.
Probably just as well for everyone I never fulfilled my youthful goal of covering the Cardinals for the P-D.

Bernie is wondering if its time for Franklin to hit the DL with a shoulder injury.

No, I am not Bernie Miklasz.

i will agree with that. the most useless member of the bullpen staff is neither batista nor salas, but franklin. the size of the bruise on that guy's ego ought to be worth a trip to the 15-day DL all by itself.

I'll reiterate VEB this morning: Nick Punto should never, ever leadoff. It shouldn't even be a thought that comes across TLR's mind. Punto is one of the worst hitters in MLB, and just because he's white and plays the infield does not mean he should be leading off.
Tyler Greene needs to be playing more. He cost himself some La Russa Bucks against Chapman the other day, but he's got some pop, is a terrific base stealer and is no worse defensively than Freese, Theriot or Schumaker.

Tyler Greene is also really, really fast. That infield hit he had on the groundball to third was pretty impressive. That was just a routine ground ball and the third baseman didn't realize how fast Greene was going to get down the line. The third baseman may have double clutched a little, but otherwise, that was just pure and simple speed.
