Yes, he's exceptionally fast. Probably the fastest white guy in the league. No joke.

Matt Holliday is hitting .429 and qualifies for the batting title.

O' Cowboy, where art thou?

"He cost himself some La Russa Bucks"

Interesting term that I'm going to blatantly swipe and claim as my own on every forum but this one.
I can't give any more specific examples due to my early-onset Alzheimer's, but it vaguely seems like Greene is prone to the occasional brain cramp, a tendency which has hindered his playing time, especially as you point out on a La Russa-managed team.
But I tend to think that when he makes mistakes, it's because he's trying too hard, not because he's, as Cedric Maxwell would say, lacksadaisykill. The difference between a player like Greene and Miles is Greene makes errors of omission by commission, whereas Miles lacks the talent to commit the omission.

Re: 4/27 Gamecrap

Punto has had a few key hits.  He hasnt been a total waste like I thought he would be.  He has got on base every game he has played but one.  In that game he got down a bunt.  He isnt real impressive but he is much more usefull the I pictured him being.

Still I agree that he shouldnt be taking playing time away from Greene.  It would not be rational to expect Greene to produce better then he has so far.  Greene knows if he doesnt impress he isnt going to get to many more chances.  He has been passed up so many time he likely think he has to force his way onto the roster.

One thing I see about Greene is that he has 8 strike outs and no walks.

I'll reiterate VEB this morning: Nick Punto should never, ever leadoff. It shouldn't even be a thought that comes across TLR's mind. Punto is one of the worst hitters in MLB, and just because he's white and plays the infield does not mean he should be leading off.

Tyler Greene needs to be playing more. He cost himself some La Russa Bucks against Chapman the other day, but he's got some pop, is a terrific base stealer and is no worse defensively than Freese, Theriot or Schumaker.

it would be nice to see him play some more, but who are they going to sit?  it seems like greene's best position defensively is 2B, and it already seems like la russa is trying to get descalso time there while skip is hurt.  it's hard to sit freese when he is so productive offensively.

He should be at shortstop every day until Therrible comes back.

A few days ago he tweaked his ribcage.

Re: 4/27 Gamecrap

ahhh, . . . then by all means, play greene regularly and figure out what he can do.  i missed the HR while packing, but he shows flashes of at least 3 tools.  and it's not like there's lots of unexplored upside to punto, who in fairness has been OK, even showing some real good hustle on D.
