Dude, you're late.  See thread titled "Floppy Gone"

Frickin' media.  Always trying to give the impression you have a scoop

Re: Buh-bye, Felipe

This is at least the the second time this week that Artie blew one and I thought the really decent thing to do would be to let it slide, only to have Max and now fors jump on it like a first round draft choice and a bag of coke.

Re: Buh-bye, Felipe

Felipe Lopez may be gone, but we still have the always punctual Pedro Feliz.

Does Feliz have an attitude problem or is it just that he hits like a pitcher and is not that great on defense (though the best we've had all season - including Freeze, who made some impressive plays but was erratic)?

Re: Buh-bye, Felipe

Excellent article on the relationship between success on the field and payroll Mags. Also, I very much enjoyed the piece on one of my favorites from the 50s and 60s, Ken Boyer.

I hoped you would.

I saw an article or online debate somewhere recently about true 5 tool players.  I don't think I injected myself into it but I recall thinking that the 1964 Cardinals had two of the all time greatest (5 tool players) at 1st and 3d.  I don't think either Boyer or Bill White was mentioned in the discussion.

Re: Buh-bye, Felipe

Boyer had an important, maybe crucial role in that 1964 Pennant. The first great ML catch I ever saw was by him against the Cubs at Wrigley in 1956 (a line drive with "Vinegar Bend" on the mound).

Would Larry Doby qualify as a 12-tool player?

The one drawback with this forum is you have to scrounge a little bit for posts. But I like it that I have the freedom to say "Fuck" without one of Windy's former employers giving me an electric shock.

I don't think Feliz's intensity is going to remind anyone of Pete Rose, but I don't recall any specific incidents that have offended anyone.
Your observations are otherwise spot on. If I were prone to hyperbole, I might say that after watching Lopez play third base Feliz was like putting a Band-Aid on your neck after you've been decapitated.

I do like that more people are cusing.  It makes me feel like less of a potty mouth.

I wonder if Yahoo would have allowed Jack Clark's "poopy" comment.

For that matter, what grown man says "poopy?"  Obviously the paper wouldn't have printed it if he had said "shitty," but I'd much rather have a quote attributed to me contain an [expletive deleted] reference than have anyone think I actually used the word "poopy" on purpose.

With a 2 1/2 year old at home I say that word several times a day.

Re: Buh-bye, Felipe

It is alot better to use that word then to walk into the living room and say "god damn, who shit their fucking pants".

I disagree. I think if you're going to say "god damn, who ____ their fucking pants." then "shit" fits in there a lot better then "pooped".
