Missed it, but I heard one of my favorite songwriter/guitarists had a song to be featured prominently in tonight's episode. Anything stand out?

No, not really. This has been a slow episode. Kind of disappointing.

He took a called third strike and Holliday got thrown out stealing.
I don't know if I'm pissed at Lohse for blowing up in the fifth or happy he got through five without getting the shit kicked out of him again.
What's up with the plate umpire tonight? Even though I'm 2,000 miles from Milwaukee, I feel like I have to kep my mouth shut, or I'm going to get tossed.
From what I've seen, Balkin Bob has called an outstanding game and so has the rest of his crew. I only watched a few innings but I saw:
1. Duncan get tossed for bitching about a call that was absolutely correct if that little box they use is accurate. Apparently Duncan had been on his case all night trying to get Loshe the benefit of pitches that clearly weren't even close.
2. The interference call at second was indisputably correct and anyone that opened his mouth to protest needed to be tossed. I like Counsel but he's clearly one of the games most aggressive cheaters.
3. Davidson was heads-up on the tag by Pujols that the 1B umpire understandably missed. A lot of umps would have let it stand.
4. With the Cards recent history and the general character of that Milwaukee bunch, the situation called for someone to take charge and stay on top of the mouthing.

So - is Artie_Fufkin one of your in-laws? (grin)
(Sorry AP - just had to add the moticon)

How the hell did that strike zone manage to grow seven inches when Hoffman came in?
And why the hell was Randy Winn batting?

I have no male in-laws who are alive except for my wife's weasely uncle, who hasn't been seen since he scampered off to upstate NY with his cut of my wife's grandfather's estate and a box of china he swiped without telling anyone. My mother-in-law has managed to kill the rest of them off.
Artie Fufkin is a character played by Paul Shaffer in "This is Spinal Tap." He's a record company promoter who arranges a record signing at a record store in Chicago. No one shows up, and the scene consists of the band members - all of whom are ill - sniffling and sneezing standing behind a table looking equally bored and embarrassed.

Rockies win. But I'm not sure how good that is for the Cardinals right now.

Well yeah - if you look at the Wild Card race the Rockies win may look a bit like a connundrum...

Futility in a nutshell:
R. Winn hit for P. Feliz
R. Winn grounded into double play second to shortstop to first, C. Rasmus out at second
A. Miles hit for T. Greene
A. Miles grounded out to shortstop
Downsides of this forum.
1. No way to rate a post (5 stars for this one)
2. Can't seem to organize them most recent on top
3. No easy way to see which ones I've read already
4. No way to advance (next post).
Maybe someone knows some fixes for these.

Yeah, AP's wife thinks I'm a Star Wars geek. Can't have that.
Dunno why. The proper thing is that none of our wives know nuthin about the rest of us.

Speaking of wives - where's Windy?
Also - I'm finding it interesting that they have an emoticon for "stoned"...

It's a little late for that. Every time KC gets drunk, he calls my house and starts hitting on my wife.

=Webstergrovesalum where's Windy? ...
I think in one of his posts he referred to attending a Cardinals' game, which means he is or was in the Midwest visiting the esteemed former Mrs. Windy ... Jeez-us ... can't we just call each other by our first names now?

"all of whom are ill - sniffling and sneezing"
Derrek Smalls steals this scene as he tries to blow a booger out of his nose, and keeps looking in his hanky and shaking his head, "nope, didn't get it yet."

FYI: emoticons worked for me once, and since then I just get the javascript. :-(

I believe you meant, "Jesus". As for me, I like the aliases, and shall remain "Max Tuindoh", and my wife, "Mrs. Tuindoh", and "rugrats" shall suffice for the wee little ones.

As for Hoffman, La Russa said, "He's had a great career and it was a great moment for him. That's my comment."

Isn't there some way you could fix it so that he would be Aaron Miles perpetually?
