I'd be surprised if they're inducing, just because it's a Sunday. Most doctors induce Monday thru Friday around tee times.

That was a big-time performance by McClellan. Apparently his wife is expecting and she's going to be going into labor next Sunday (he pitches against Cueto on Saturday).
that ought to be interesting. too bad it isn't carp going against Janey.
just out of curiosity, is that her expected due date, or is there a plan to induce labor, or what? you'd think if they planned to induce labor they'd choose a day when he's not pitching, but what do i know about the norms in his family? if just the expected due date, my two kids both missed by about 2 weeks.
My guy was born in late March. His due date was April 1. I can't imagine a worse thing for a kid than being born on April Fools Day.

Christmas. Absolutely worst date for a birthday, bar none.

I don't know. If you're the right guy, people give you frankincense and gold. I wouldn't be too jazzed about myrrh, though.

My dad and my daughter were born in December and me and my brother in Jan. You pretty much get screwed on birthday gifts. You either get a XMass gift early or one is saved to be given to you later.

'combined' christmas slash birthday gift is the rule, i believe, for birthdays within a few weeks of christmas.
my second d is dec. 5, maybe just outside that window.

"Now he is going to be playing on two bad ankles and a bum hand."
If there's an upside, a broken bone in his hand won't give him any residual effects once it's healed. All he really has to do is get his timing back.
But I'm with you. Albert has been on the 15-day once in going on 11 years, and Freese has spent more time on the DL than off it in three.
No to Tejada, BTW. Never liked him anyway, and his skill set is no longer worth it.I guess that is the difference between a broken hand and a broken wrist. DeRosa went on the DL a week ago when his wrist flared back up.
Yeah, you start messing around with all those bones in the wrist, it becomes something that can linger. How long ago did DeRosa have surgery?
More wrist issues for Derosa
If there were ever any doubts over the severity of Mark DeRosa's(notes) ongoing wrist problems, they were totally erased after his freak injury on Wednesday night.
The San Francisco Giants' utility man left the game in the fourth inning of a 8-5 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers with what they were calling a strained left wrist. Manager Bruce Bochy later said it "looks like he's going to be out for awhile."
What was particularly noteworthy about the injury was that it seemed to happen out of nowhere. DeRosa was standing in the batter's box, awaiting a pitch from Clayton Kershaw(notes) when he dropped the bat in pain. Television announcers initially thought the pitch had hit him, but Kershaw's throw actually bounced in the dirt and came nowhere near DeRosa.
Watch the unusual injury here
There was also no swing and no contact with any other player, though a confused DeRosa later told a teammate he thought catcher Rod Barajas(notes) had grabbed his bat. (You know it's an unusual injury when even the injured player can't come up with a plausible explanation for it.)
Some Giants fans may shrug their shoulders over the loss of a 36-year-old infielder who was batting .162/.225/.189 over 18 games this season, but the truth is that his faulty left wrist — which could now spell the end of his career — can take a lot of the blame. DeRosa has already had two surgeries on the wrist (the first one was reportedly botched) and only played 26 games for the Giants in 2010.
Now it looks like he'll again miss significant time in 2011, making it a remote likelihood that the Giants will get anything past quality veteran leadership for the two-year, $12 million contract they gave DeRosa before the start of the 2010 season.
