Fenway is one of the two ballparks still standing where have the Cubs actually played a WS game. Media guys here like Shaughnessy have always pushed this concept of symmetrical commisseration between CubFan and SauxFan, but they're two entirely different species.
I can't imagine there will be much of an invasion this weekend. The first time the Cards came here for IL play in 2003, there were a couple thousand Cardinals' fans at every game, but Red Sox tickets have been almost impossible to get since 2004.

Brian Roberts got thrown out stealing and Mariano Rivera closed out Game 4 of the ALCS, but the Yankees ended up getting swept in the World Series by a 105-win Cardinals' team that is considered one of the best if not the best in the history of the franchise.
Humiliated by yet another crushing defeat at the hands of their bitter rivals, the Red Sox moved to Winnipeg and changed their name to the Sled Dogs. They average about 11,000 fans per home game, have an MLB-lowest payroll of $30 million and currently reside in last place in the AL West.
