This just confirms the sheer idiocy of carrying 13 pitchers.  They've resisted bring up Matt Carpenter because there isn't room on the 40 man roster.  Here's an idea.  DFA Franklin and add M. Carpenter to the 40 man.

The 40 man.  I am not sure who can be trimmed but I assume something could be done.  I cut Todd back lose and get rid of Walters.  Then add Carpenter and Stavinoha.

I know.  It just pisses me off that they are going to such lengths to keep this guy on the roster.  I guess in some ways their loyalty is an admirable trait.

I didnt really care.  The bullpen hasnt really been used much of late because the starters have been doing such a good job.  The problem isnt that they need to add another arm in the pen for inning.  The problem is that Tallet is coming off the DL and they need two lefties.  I am not sure what KC lineup is but it wouldnt suprise me if they had a few lefties that TLR had on his mind when this move was made.  Tallet could have rehabed longer. 

So Franklin hanging around wasnt an issue till Freese got hurt and it is more about is spot on the 40 man.  They have a guy that should get the call in Carpenter.  I dont have any false hope in Carpener.  He might still be over matched for major league pitching but he proved tis spring that he needs a look.  The time is right fo that.  He could keep the Cardinals from playing half the infield out of position and over exposing the bench.  I dont have a issue with blaming the front office for not DFA Franklin to allow a 40 man roster spot but you have to fix the problem in a way that those in power will allow it to be fixed.  That is true in more situation then just tis one.  I wouldnt have picked up Jess Todd or I would cut or trade Walters.  Walter s never going to factor into the major league club.  He is 26 years old and has a 6 era in triple A. 

Dont get me wrong, I dont feel sorry for Franklin.  He needs to go.  It isnt like he wont get paid.  Hell, if he want he could likely catch on with another team that might actually put him on the mound.

The next issue will be once Skip and Punto are ready to come back.  Kozma is the easy bus ticket but then you have to send a pitcher backing.
