Little Lord Brennaman said something else incredibly stupid and nonsensical last night. I can't remember the exact quote, but it was something like "You have to like your chances with Bill Bray on the mound, assuming everything goes well ..."

bottom of the 10th. batista gets better after the first inning.
Apparently Batista didn't get that memo.
W, Sac, IBB, GIDP . . . sounded good to me. But hell, I'll take Descalso with another game winner and Sanchez for the save . . . that's an even better story!
It ended well. Walking the leadoff hitter to start the bottom half of extra innings isn't often a recipe for success.

I can't believe Cardinals fans complain about Dan 'n Al considering some of the other crap out there.
How good would a booth of Mark Grace and Brennaman be?

Listening to Shannon and Rooney last night I'll go out on a limb and, based on one recent listen, say Rooney isn't bad at all. It's clear he admires Joe Buck as his style has some similarities with that of Buck.

Change that to Jack Buck. Rooney started broadcasting baseball games when Joe was still in elementary school, and has been broadcasting major league games since before Joe graduated high school.

true. But he did get better his second inning out there, and perhaps most importantly of all, he pitched well enough to get the win!

Apparently, the primary reason why Brennaman decided to leave Phoenix for Cinci was because he and Grace couldn't stand each other.

The TV guys really don't have to say anything anymore since almost everything you'd want to know is in that little box in the upper right hand (or is it left hand?) corner. I'd use the mute button, but it's just weird listening to a game without sound.

So who gets the win last night using your formula?

I like it when they know something about the other team. I rather hear alittle more about them. I think it makes you understand why things were done the way they were. One thing I like about Dan, Al and Horton is that they at least mention the team the Cardinals are playing.

Oh, Brennaman mentions the other team. He's all too eager to point out that Carpenter "complained in-CESS-antly" about the baseballs not being rubbed up, or he'll give some kind of backhanded compliment like "I wanna tell you this Carlos Zambrano is HANDS DOWN some kind of talent, there's nooooo denying that, no denying that one IOTA, but he comes with some serious ANGER issues that wouldn't fly on a lot of teams."
When he's ambivalent about the character of opposing player, he will point out in unspecific terms the most obvious thing like the people watching the broadcast have never heard of the player before. "I wanna tell you man-oh-MAN this Albert Pujols is SOME kind of hitter."
BTW, the color guy from the Padres is pretty good. At least he's been good the last two nights.

I dont listen to the other guys much. Maybe the Cubs once in a while if the Cards play them and I cant get the game on FSMW. I cant even remember who is doing games for ESPN or TBS now. I still enjoy listening to Joe Buck.

He might admire Joe, too, but noted.
