OK, back in March, who had the Cardinals scoring three runs in an inning on a double by Corey Patterson, a single by Edwin Jackson and a homer by Rafael Furcal on Aug. 4?

I may have to take back my opinion that it was a nothing trade. Having him at short takes this to team from a poor fielding team to a good one.

I realize some of you don't want to look ahead to next year yet, but if Furcal plays well I wonder what it would take to bring him back. Given his recent injury history, I can't imagine anyone wanted to give him a long term deal.
This year we paid Theriout and Schu $6M to play 2B/SS. I wonder if you could have Furcal and Descalso for something near or less than that cost? Suddenly a pourous middle infield would look pretty good.

Maybe it's just me, but yesterday's start seemed a lot like a Jose DeLeon Special: eat about seven innings and give up about eight runs. Only Jackson was worse.
