Ray Rice.

Yikes... Dude should be in jail for that...

Just saw the elevator footage, I have two ex-wives, and one of them recently just sent me a nice set of scathing ass-chewing text messages for trying to give her a 575.00 check. I understand how much a woman can get under your skin. I understand what it's like when you're trembling with rage over something, and would love nothing more than to just rare back, and knock some woman out.

But you don't do it. You just don't. Because you're a man that is 2-3 times bigger than that lady, much stronger, and so you need to find a way to get through the situation without laying her out.

I'm actually hoping Goodell steps in and adjusts the suspension based on the new video, that's complete garbage for him to get 2 games when other people have got so much worse without even having a "victim".

Re: Ray Rice.

The Ravens have apparently released him. Good for Bisciotti.

Re: Ray Rice.

The million dollar question hits. Which franchise will be stupid enough to try and pick him up with all of this shit swirling around him?

There was a time I'd suggest he become a Raider, but they've been much better for a very long time so that hardly seems fair. I would also wonder about the Cowboys, but Jones is a true Texan. He loves the bling, the shiny, the party, and God's team. He also probably has a serious honor code violation with a man striking a woman (especially like that). I just don't know if anyone could watch that video, and sign him this season....

EDIT: Goodell is the last person to the buffet here, but he apparently just suspended him indefinitely. So this question is no longer valid.

These days, you're more apt to find someone affiliated with the San Francisco 49ers in the police blotter.

I realize domestic violence is not a joking matter.  But sometimes the internet produces pure gold.

Ray lewis' take....so what would he have done?  Killed her?

Amazing that Ray Lewis was able to play linebacker for so long in the NFL with wings instead of arms.
I'm sure Ray Lewis, who is unhindered by genius, will convince himself there's no irony in his comments.
But, to address your question, Ray probably would have had a couple of his buddies off Mrs. Rice, not inside the casino, but in the parking lot outside of it.
Hypocrisy is nothing new to that organization, though. When the original Browns were still in Cleveland, NFL Films put together a documentary about Al Davis. One of the people who was interviewed was Art Modell, who said he was disappointed the Raiders moved to Los Angeles without first getting permission from the other owners in the league.

Re: Ray Rice.

Is it wrong that my view point isnt complete outrage.  Im not defending rice at all.  He was wrong leaglly and morally.  However i believe his now wife was charged as well.  In the video she clearly provoked him.  Now they are married, hopefully on the right path.  Making them a spectacle seems counter productive.  Matter of fact the charges on rice were dropped.  Again im not defending him.  Im just not outraged that a man and his now wife had a domestic problem.  It isnt pretty but what do you expect to see?  Thats what domestics can look like.  Just because it is on camera it matters.  Thats a whole nother subject tho.

Re: Ray Rice.

Not all domestics are like that AP. I had an ex girlfriend that said we were done. I said okay. She said she was leaving, I asked if she needed help packing. She said she was taking the computer, I said no you're not and stood in the doorway to the computer room while she kicked a hole in my wall, and punched my face and chest about 15 times. Then she called the cops, and told them I hit her.

There's a difference even with domestics between a man and a woman getting physical, and an NFL player knocking a woman out like that.

Yeah im well award of that.  I read she supposively spit in his face.  Id say a women shouldnt spit in the face of a nlf player.  I cant tell if she did or not.  Right or wrong what did she expect to happen?  Your drunk, maybe spit on someone, smack him a couple times and come up to him smacking him again when ur struck.  Are you not asking for it?  There is a reason they both went to jail.  Him being a wife beating asshole doesnt excuse her being a stupid bitch.  Her being a stupid bitch doesnt justify his actions.  Im just not going to waste my time feeling sorry for people who made their own bed.

I also find it interesting that the nfl suspended someone who was never convicted of anything.  Again im not saying they are wrojg for doing so.

Re: Ray Rice.

Well the conduct policy deals more with a players actions bringing the league into disrepute. Rice actually plead to the felony, and worked a deal that will have it removed, but he was "convicted" in this case. Not that he needed to be.

For the issue that occurred, and your questions? Women are taught from birth that it's despicable for a man to strike them, same as men. So while we're doing everything we can to not strike them, they are doing everything they can to infuriate us without any fear of getting hit. However, if she slapped him around a little? Grab her and push her away. If she spit on him? Dump her. You're the NFL star, she's a piece of ass. Walk away, and she just lost access to her multi-million dollar boyfriend. He could have just kept pushing her away from him.

You can't lose it like he did there, he seriously could have killed the woman hitting her like that. Why? Because she spit at him and called him mean names? Is she asking for it? Probably. Is he a douche bag for giving it to her? Without question. Should he play football again? Maybe after 8 games.

Re: Ray Rice.

And yes, she's a stupid bitch, and he's an even bigger idiot for reconciling with her, and marrying her crazy ass.

Any woman that marries you after that, you need to run away from, because they have a plan, and it's diabolical....

We are in complete agreeance.

" Women are taught from birth that it's despicable for a man to strike them, same as men. So while we're doing everything we can to not strike them, they are doing everything they can to infuriate us without any fear of getting hit. "

And it is very wrong.  Besides sex crime probably the worst moral trait there is.  I just dont buy into the idea that if a women get hit everything she did to provoke it is forgoten.  In this case it wasnt.  She left in cuffs as well the way i read it.  Thats the right call.

Thankfully im not married to a women that crazy.  They are all alittle crazy tho.  Here is a great scientific tool in figuring out if you could ever be in a situation that could put u in jail.  Thankfully my wife isnt a hairdress, redhead or named tiffany.

Re: Ray Rice.

Oddly enough, I once dated a redheaded hairdresser named Tiffany.

Excellent analysis, but that guy looks like he's never been laid in his life.

Re: Ray Rice.

Alz, I get where you're coming from and understand that's how most people are raised. AP and I come at it from different perspectives. I would guess that I handled between 1,500-2,000 domestics in my time at the police department, and you quickly learn that the notion that a man should never hit a woman goes out the window pretty quickly. If she wants to throw a punch like a man, she can take a punch like a man.

In law enforcement, the term "primary aggressor" is used to determine who goes to jail in a domestic. That can be the woman, even if she ended up getting the worst of the fight.

My reaction to the video was the same as AP's. I understand the public's reaction, but I'm not personally that shocked by what I saw.

Re: Ray Rice.

I still haven't had to strike one. I've had to grab one, push one away, but I haven't actually had to knock one out.

Hopefully I'll be able to die making the same statement. It's about as cool as beating up a 12 year old.

I know this is a long read, but it's worth it. The part about Bisciotti texting Rice with a job offer seconds after the Ravens announced he had been released is one of the most astonishing things I've ever read.
