For the 2nd day in a row, I'm missing the game to watch my daughter play in a softball tournament. It's the equivalent of having a 4 hour root canal, without anesthesia, while being forced to listen to an endless loop of Nickleback, Barry Manilow and Vanilla Ice.

I'm just curious at what age does a bunted ball that's thrown into right field no longer get considered a triple.

Tell me about it. I heard one parent scream at his daughter this past year after she was hit by a pitch for "taking the easy way out."

To make it worse, the home plate umpire is so bad is comical. I can't be mad because he's been pathetically bad both ways. He's calling balls and strikes before the ball crosses the plate. He just called a strike on a ball a girl hit into the outfield. As I was typing this there was a play at the plate. He called the runner safe, reconsidered and then called her out. His explanation to the other team's manager was that the runner would have been safe if the catcher had dropped the ball, so he called her safe until he knew whether the catcher had held on or not. Once he determined she had, he switched his call. He's been our home plate ump all 4 games this weekend.

Softball season never ends. Neither does youth hockey season. I have a buddy who has three kids who play youth hockey. He might as well sell his house and live in a van, because all he ever des is travel from rink to rink.

I've definitely heard this about youth hockey.

After the parents, the most annoying thing about girls softball are the non-stop cheers and chants from the dugout. It's comical that they make these stupid t-shirts with sayings like "My softball player wears cleats not heels." or "Real girls play in the dirt," but then they spend the whole game cheering like a bunch of girls at a slumber party.

They have cheers for hits, cheers for runs, they even have a cheer for when the other team has a conference on the mound.

I function so much better at boys sports.
