Mets vs. Cubs
It's like a nightmare you can't wake up from.

meh. Not for me, happy to cheer the Cubs on. I'm just thrilled the Dodgers are sitting at home with their overpaid superstars.
Offline
I'm looking forward to the Mets crushing another Cubs dream.
Offline
I'm hoping MLB decides to go on strike and cancel the remainder of the postseason.

Anyone else enjoying watching Arrieta getting his tits lit up?

I think it is hilarious even tho id rather the cubs win then the mets.....still there is joy to be taken anytime the cubs lose. Every cub fani talk to was touting arrieta. Even after the pirates game. I told them he got bailed out of that game by some luck. Then the cards hit him and now the mets. The playoffs just dont work like the regular season. Nothing should be counted as a sure thing and nothing should be counted out. Id never say that the cards had the game in the bag because waino was throwing....or anyone else.

It's silly to try to predict anything at this point. I'm not sure if it was Darling or Ripken who said the Mets have a huge advantage because they've won the games in which Lester and Arrieta have pitched, but the Cubs get to play at home, where they're the ones who have a huge advantage.
And I know it was Darling who was trying to praise the Mets' pitching staff when he pointed out the Cubs hit 10 home runs in the LDS and have only hit one so far in the LCS, but only one of their homers in the LDS came in the first two games at a real park. The other nine were hit at Wrigley.

I wouldn't rule the Cubs out of this just yet. That lineup is still deadly. Reminds me a lot of the 2004 Cardinals, but their guys are young, and they have 2 solid aces at the top of their rotation.
Regardless of Ron Darling's pro analysis regarding the home runs being hit at real parks.... I only remember 1 ball going out that was truly a "Wrigley" ball. Has that ball that Schwarber hit even landed yet?
The Cubs have a 3 game set to play at home, we'll see where this series is at after those are done.

That was my analysis, not Darling's. Darling was trying to praise the Mets' pitching staff for not giving up home runs to the Cubs in the first two games of the series. My point was that the Mets' staff has given up the same number of home runs as the Cardinals had in their first two games of their respective series with the Cubs, and now let's see how the Mets' pitching staff fares when they get to Wrigley, especially if the wind is blowing out like it was the night the Cubs hit six homers against the Cardinals.
I don't want to get into another discussion about whether or not Wrigley is a pitchers' park, especially now that you're a Cubs' fan , but I'm not really disagreeing with you either. See my earlier comment about how the glorified slow pitch softball team they've put together is well-suited for Wrigley Field, and they're going to be tough to beat at home.

gotcha, I misread.
I'm not a Cubs fan, I just don't hate them. I don't deal with their trolls though, and on that, I'm pretty sure the Cardinal trolls are just as awful, if not worse (since they have legitimate ammunitionin 100 different ways to end any verbal discussion on a Cardinals vs Cubs argument).
Here, we all wish the Cardinals well, but I wasn't a life long Cardinal fan. Maybe there was something in the 70s/80s. Maybe Chicago held a "We love you Dekinger" parade in 1985 that I wasn't aware of. I hate teams that are constantly in my team's way and keeping my team from success. The Cubs have never been anywhere near that to me.

As a Dolphin fan, I hate the Patriots. As a Blues fan? I hate the Blackhawks....
As a Cardinal fan? I feel sorry for the Cubs. There's a difference there to me.

The cubs have not been relevant enough in my lifetime to hate. They are kind of like the colorado rockies. Doesnt anyone hate the rockies? Not really because they are never good enough to dislike.

I doubt this game ends 3-2, but it would be kind of funny if the Cubs lost because of a dropped third strike.

On the other hand, if they end up winning because of their stupid weed-covered wall, I'll be pissed.

Euphoria and complacency can kill a playoff run faster than an injury.
See 2004 Cardinals.
It was nice to welcome the Cubs back to postseason, but someone needed to remind them that a ring takes 11 wins (12 for a wild card team) and they only had 4. Shame too, I think they are a better team than the one beating them up.

What the first 3 games of the series has reminded us is that there is some sense of randomness to a post-season series. In 2006, no one could have predicted that the Tigers pitchers would prove utterly incompetent when asked to throw a baseball to a base other than home. In 2011, no one could have predicted David Freese would do what he did.
This year, assuming the NLCS ends soon, Daniel Murphy stands to be the NLCS MVP. My guess is before the post-season started, Daniel Murphy was pretty far down on the list of people you would expect to win such an award. No one can predict something like that. Hell, Mrs. Daniel Murphy (assuming there is one) couldn't have predicted something like that.

Well 6 Wild Card teams (1994-Present) have been World Series Champions...
In a lot of ways, there's something to be said for legging out an insane season and fighting for your lives every day, and then going straight into postseason. It's a mental edge in my opinion. It's now outweighed by having to burn your ace pitcher in the 1 gamer before rolling into the playoffs against the leagues best.

I agree. I know the Cardinals wanted to rest some guys after they clinched, but I didn't like the way they basically slept through the Braves series, especially since they had almost a week off after the regular season.

I didn't know Donovan Osborne was starting for the Cubs tonight.

Mets have to keep scoring. Cubs are going to put some runs on the board the second time through.

7 HR for Murphy in 9 post season games. This has gotten stupid
