Not holding out much hope, but at least Matt Carpenter is back

Jeez. I thought there was a better chance of finding life on Mars than life on this board.

There’s a better chance of finding life on Mars than there is of Lynn and Gibson both finishing the season in the starting rotation.

Fuck Heyward

As I write this in the 9th inning of the Padres series, they have had a better road trip then I'd of guessed.

The unwillingness to add another legit starter is baffling. There memories of 2023 faded quickly.

Maybe an unpopular opinion. Open day ceremony is over-rated.

Lynn keeping up his 2023 hrs pace in 2024

The 2022 Pujols/Molina farewell tour worked out because they got lucky with Pujols’ home run chase, which admittedly was a lot of fun to watch. But they essentially torpedoed the 2023 season so Wainwright could get to 200 wins. Maybe the DeWitts have done research that indicates their fans have become more apt to buy tickets for nostalgic reasons than competitive ones. It’s the only explanation I have for bringing back Carpenter. Good luck to them. I won’t be funding it. This will be the first season since 2004 that I won’t buy the Extra Innings or a streaming package.

I told Fors right before opening day I didn’t think they’d have a record better than 2-5 when they left San Diego. So they proved me wrong. And they should have split with the Dodgers, but they coughed up the Sunday night game.

I'm still hopeful for the year. It's probably ill advised.
Basicly the though on adding carp/crawford/Lynn/Gibson is that the coaching staff is so poor at managing the clubhouse and personalities that they had to bring in a group of player coaches. Thrilling

I assume that was also the reason for wanting yadi involved. However yadi has proven to be unreliable. I do not know what the obsession is with yadi being the cardinals manager. He hasn't proven to have the attention span for the job in recent years.

Exactly. That's where my ill fated optimism comes from. I sound like the front office but if gray was in the rotation that would have been a even better road trip.

The Marlins must stink.

I resisted the urge to comment earlier....I wanted to say it is a good sign that they are winning games they should win. Happy sunday

I've kind of taken break on watching. Just following box scores. Something has to change.

Life on the message board!!!
About 3-4 years ago we switched to YouTube TV and I don’t get Bally’s Sports. I found that I didn’t miss watching the Cardinals. I simply don’t find the team remotely interesting. Maybe I’ll change my tune when Moz finally retires, but they don’t care about winning so why should I care about them.
AP, hope things are well. Madison finished her 2 years at Kaskaskia. She’s on a 5 year plan, but she’s back home and starts at UM-St. Louis in the fall. She was on the Kaskaskia team that went to the JUCO World Series in 2023.
Bob leaves for medical school next month. He’s most likely headed to AT Still in Kirksville, but he’s still waiting to hear from the military’s medical school in Maryland. If they offer him a spot, he’ll take it.

Thanks for the update fors. 3-4 years. Fuck it's been that long.
Your kids seem like they are on a very successful road. Congrats.
I haven't watch the cards closely in the last 2 or 3 years. 2 for sure. There hasn't been much to watch. I have ways to do it but it's hard to find time to watch when it's below mediocre. I still follow them via podcast, news and box scores. If they didn't suck id tune in more. Family stuff gets in the way as well. The pujols ride was fun. I still catch a game now and then just because I enjoy the metrics of it. Hopefully mo hangs it up after this year. His recent interview about being semi okay with being fired was odd.
Speaking of family. Girls are older now and I'm not. Got a junior and freshman. Gf has a 7th grader. Got divorced and taken back to court once. Been fighting to be a dad that's manipulated against. If I had a son the best advise I'd give is marry a good women or you will spend you life playing from behind. But life's leveled out.
115 months till retirement.

Cards related, one good series got them within 5 games of the division and 2 game of wild card. Imagine if they had a legit rotation. They would be solidly mediocre at least.
Seperately- what's the opinion on trevor Bauer. Personally I think he is a clubhouse distraction and poor teammate, but getting fucked. There has been plenty of assholes in the mlb. I don't think so crazy bitch should keep him out.

It's hard to believe no team will give Bauer a shot. He's been blackballed but I'm not sure why.

Probably last 2 trips to sit in a stadium and watch the Cardinals live :
May 18 Cardinals beat Red Sox in STL
June 3 Cardinals lose to Astros in Houston .
Baseball is a little different now since I watched the Cardinals play Houston as the Colt 45’s before the Astrodome was built .
Offline
I'm sure it is. My first game was a Cards-Pirates DH during Dave Parker's rookie year, and even then I'll bet the game and experience had changed significantly by then.

This team is like anal. Sometimes it feels good but you know your just going to end up with shit on your dick and some disgust.
